Chair - Acadamy's Coding and Coverage Committee | Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics | - | As a member and chair of the Academy's Coding and Coverage Committee, I have been collaborating with my fellow committee members in our efforts to promote the value of the RDN as part of the primary and extended health-care team. Additionally, I am working with other committee members to improve and enhance usability of the many resources the Academy has created to help the RDN in the world of nutrition services reimbursement and coverage. We continue to collaborate with other Academy committees and experts to help our membership understand the importance of knowing how our services are being paid for in all areas of dietetics. As the chair of the committee I have had the opportunity to participate as a content expert for the House of Delegates on Coding and Coverage issues as well as help create the House of Delegates Action Plan for Nutrition Services Delivery and Payment, outlining important actions for leaders and members to take to improve awareness and action on issues related to reimbursement and coverage of our services.
Co-Chair Patient Centered Medical Home/Accountable Care Organization Workgroup | Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics | - | As co-chair of this important group, I worked with other members to evaluate the current status of the RDN in emerging payment and population health management models as well as identify challenges and opportunities for our profession as we strengthen our statements of value as an essential member of the health care team. By facilitating collaboration from other experts in this focus area, we were effective in providing critical analysis of these challenges and opportunities. As a result of this collaboration, the workgroup was able to make specific recommendations for the Academy and its members as we position ourselves going forward.
Affiliate President | Idaho Dietetics Association (Idaho Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics) | - | During my term as president of the Idaho affiliate, I was able to lead the board in promoting policy and payment issues that contributed to the recognition of RDNs in our state as nutrition experts. I was successful in getting several physicians in the state to help champion the value of the RDN as part of our efforts to improve coverage of nutrition services and MNT. |
