Treasurer-elect |
|
• I have owned a consultant company for 40 years, which has employed up to 80 RDNs in sixteen states. I manage a multi-million dollar budget in my daily career. I have successfully served on the Finance Committees of 2 DPGs and an Affiliate, meeting budgetary goals. I am the Chair of the Stewardship and Finance Committee and serve on the Vestry of my church. • As Past Chair of two dietetic practice groups (DPGs) and Past President of an Affiliate, I have managed positive changes while embracing inclusivity, welcoming all ideas for consideration and including everyone in the decision making process. • I am not afraid to ask the tough questions, such as how can DPGs contribute to AND PAC, and how can DPGs and Affiliates give back to our members? • I have initiated and fostered relations with physician organization such as the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists to help get the RDN “at the table” to be included in decision making for improved patient outcomes. |

What do you see as opportunities for the future of the nutrition and dietetics profession?
This is our time! Never in the history of our country have our services as Registered Dietitian/Nutritionists been more important. To quote a former U. S. Surgeon General, Ken Moritsugu, "Obesity is the war from within us." Our opportunities lie in the assessment and treatment of obesity, which affects other disease states such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer. I am passionate about political action, fueled with evidence-based research and translated into practical educational applications.
Campaign Statement
