My roles on boards, including the Georgia Dietetic Association, Georgia Board of Examiners of Licensed Dietitians, and CDR, and on the Council on Future Practice have given me extensive experience in futurist, strategic and global thinking for the benefit of the profession, addressing difficult issues and competing factions, such as the decision to elevate the education for the RDN, communication and change leadership, and policy implementation, like allowing DPD graduates to take the DTR exam. |

What do you see as opportunities for the future of the nutrition and dietetics profession?
I am inspired by the challenge of how to create a preferred future for current and future generations of nutrition and dietetics practitioners. Major challenges include how our profession can advance in status, demonstrate greater contributions to positive health outcomes, and garner the recognition, respect and rewards our members so rightly deserve. The time is right to create a culture within the Academy that values innovation and supports efforts to move us forward into the 21st century.
