In six years on BOD and HOD leadership team as Director at Large and Speaker, my priority is always member focused. On the Council on Future Practice, I co-authored the Visioning Report 2017 that guided the development of the current strategic plan to move the Academy forward and prepare for changes in practice, education and credentialing. On the Evolution Design Team, I worked to redesign the HOD to be more inclusive, and improve member involvement, communication, and agility. As HOD Speaker, I led our Delegates in addressing the crucial issues facing our profession. |

Academy Speaker of the House of Delegates (HOD) and Board of Directors (BOD) | Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics | 2017 - 2020 | As a member of the Academy Board of Directors and Speaker of the House of Delegates and in response to the members needs, I was chosen to participate on the Evolution Design Team charged with a redesign of the HOD to be more inclusive, improve member involvement, communication and agility. As we increase understanding of the link between good nutrition and good health, our research-driven expertise, experience, focus on education and public policy, and embrace of technology and social media create new opportunities, from addressing such global challenges as malnutrition, food insecurity, and chronic disease, to providing “personalized” nutrition information at the individual level. Our leadership in a fast-evolving environment make this an exciting time for our profession.
