1. Community nutrition presentations - public speaking and skills to engage the group in the importance of evidence based nutrition information. 2. Listening effectively is crucial for communicating effectively. As a nutrition instructor in the classroom and in the community, I interact with the audience to build consensus for a productive exchange of views. 3. I am an analytical and strategic thinker. I have taken opportunities to meet elected officials and highlight the nutrition professional's role in health care. |

These are exciting times for the food and nutrition professionals. Opportunities are many and varied. The nutrition profession is in the unique position to demonstrate that a healthy diet can be a smart strategy to healthcare cost containment. As evidence of a healthy diet effectiveness in preventing diseases and promoting health continues to grow, they play an essential role in delivering nutrition care from the traditional setting to the newly telecommunications technology. They are also well positioned to actively affect public policies and food programs.
I want to be an At-Large Delegate: NDTR because I am passionate about the transformative power of food and nutrition. Working on strategies that increase public awareness of the dietetic practitioner's in-depth expertise would be my goals.
