Leadership Position | Organization | Years Involved in the Organization | My specific leadership contributions, achievements and outcomes: | Leadership Skills used in this position: |
Public Policy Licensure Committee | Nebraska Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics | 2019 - 2021 | As a bill drafter for Licensure, part of my responsibility was to write the scope statement. Included in the scope were advanced standards – NCP/scientific method and NCPT or standardized language that CRDNs use to communicate our disciplines body of knowledge. These high standards depict the value of the RDNs diagnostic judgment in guiding the determination of goals, and successful nutrition interventions to achieve goals and evaluate outcomes of interventions. These high standards are important in protecting the public and result in the delivery of quality patient care.
Research Committee Member and NCPT Committee and Advisory Workgroup | AND | 2012 - 2020 | Vetted and discussed current/relevant research topics. Stimulated discussion related to the need for research focused on validating the diagnostic language and use of the NCP in order to document valid outcomes. My interest is validation of NCPT. Continue to provide advice to NCPT advisory workgroup.
Chair, Clinical Nutrition Management DPG | AND DPG | 2007 - 2010 | As chair of CNM I introduced and educated membership to the Institute of Medicine's (IOM) vision for the 21st century healthcare system. Education included innovative and useful strategies for CNMs to use and to continue to lead clinical and administrative system improvements in their organizations, e.g. NCP/SL and outcomes research. Recognizing the IOM’s vision as the impetus for driving organizations to make the commitment to improve the safety and quality of health care for all, at my recommendation, the CNM board included IOM's vision into the CNM's strategic plan.
Education and Professional Developement Committee | American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition | 2016 - 2017 | Collaborated with a team to plan two webinars for ASPEN, including the topic, content, invited speakers, established learning objectives and contacted speakers. I recommended a speaker, contacted them, and arranged and moderated their program. Additionally, we reviewed manuscripts for JPEN & NCP.
Appeals Panel Committee Member | Commission on Dietetic Registration | 2011 - 2017 | Participated in monthly committee meetings to review appeals using ethical standards and CDR precedent to make decisions. |
