Treasurer | Indiana Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics | 2016 - 2018 | Worked with the Indiana affiliate BOD to establish a clear and balanced budget. We were able to meet the projected budget during all 3 years. We also able to address maximizing our invested funds to improve the overall financial return. Not only were budgeted financial parameters met we achieved meeting all aspects of our Program of Work to meet our Mission and Vision. | |
Chair | Academy ANDPAC | 2013 - 2015 | As Chair of ANDPAC, with the support and collaboration of the BOD we were able to meet the financial goals for ANDPAC related to nutrition advocacy. We exceeded all of our projected goals and it is noteworthy that at FNCE 2014 there was 100% of the House of Delegates that donated. We also developed the important ANDPAC Student Liaison position which is still is place. | |

Treasurer | Dietetics in Healthcare Communities | 2007 - 2009 | During the times in serving as Treasurer for DHCC we improved forecasting and managing our budgeted by having all members of the DPG Executive Committee submit a specific program of work for their areas of responsibility (to include financial planning). Throughout the year the Executive Committee worked closing together to make sure we stayed focused on our Program of Work while financially managing the budget. We were able to meet our Program of Work for the year while meeting financial budgets | |
President | Indiana Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics | 2007 - 2008 | During my year serving as President of the affiliate, we were able to initiate collaborative efforts with the Governor and the Indiana State Department of Health which led to RDs becoming integral parts of the state Wellness and Healthy Initiative Plan. We also partnered with the Academy and the Chronic Disease Prevention Alliance supporting the role of nutrition in prevention/management of chronic disease. The program of work was met along with managing finances to meet the projected budget. |
What do you see as opportunities for the future of the nutrition and dietetics profession?
Opportunities for the future of the food and nutrition professional are diverse and rapidly expanding throughout the world. Evidenced-based practice plays a critical role in health, technology, research, food production/management/preparation, and education to eliminate malnutrition globally. The world is increasingly turning to us for collaborative and viable solutions in all stages of the life cycle which results in tremendous opportunities.

I am committed to using my skills and experiences to support the Mission and Vision of the Academy and to serving the members of the Academy. A vote for Brenda as Academy Treasurer-Elect adds up to = success for nutrition.
