1. I have been president in 2 states and served several positions in the HOD. I was an Area Coordinator in the HOD; developed a framework for insuring every states' concerns were heard. 2. In my work life I developed and implemented a company wide customer satisfaction program, convincing our managers of it's value, and evaluating it's results. 3.Involved in legislative impact on practice, new practice areas, combined practice areas, ethics, and impact on professional education. |

Chair, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation | Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics | 2013 - 2014 | Responsible for overall direction and leadership of the Foundation. Participated in the selection of a fiscal analysis and management firm, presented Foundation activities and accomplishments to the Academy BOD, Membership, the HOD and affiliates. Began an analysis of sponsorship activities which resulted in a task force to analyze and develop new guidelines. Participated in initial plans for AND 100 year celebration and Chaired the meetings and conference calls of the ANDF BOD. Encouraged feedback from all BOD members. | |

Professional Issues Delegate | Academy HOD | 2006 - 2008 | While in this position I served on ADA Quality Management & Ph.II Future Practice & Education Taskforce. My goal was to bring a risk management, fact based approach to our deliberations. I brought a management interest to my time on QM which was often appreciated. I was part of creative and exciting decisions on the Future Practice and Education Taskforce, and was instrumental in writing and presenting it's report. I am very proud of what these two groups accomplished, and contributed to the resolution of some long standing problems and issues. | |
DPG Chair | Management in Food & Nutrition DPG | 2004 - 2005 | The role of DPG Chair is both challenging and so very enjoyable. I was able to work with those who closely share my interest in Management and executive decision making, while continuing to always stress the importance of this area of practice to the Academy as a whole. During this time we initiated our work on management practice standards as well as continuing to develop ways to communicate with our members and grow our membership. I feel strongly about the importance of DPG's to our members. |
What do you see as opportunities for the future of the nutrition and dietetics profession?
I feel most passionate about our professional future and am excited about the remarkable changes in practice our members have made in recent years. The entrepreneurial spirit and culinary excellence demonstrated by our members is amazing. This opens up opportunities for educational change and development of newer approaches to standards and structure of professional education. Future practice is limitless, including a more global perspective and enhanced global practice standards.

I've taught & learned, managed & practiced, led & followed. Ive read & written, and enjoyed working with amazingly enthusiastic students. The variety of career options in dietetics made it a perfect career choice for me.
