1.As an HOD Table Facilitator for the past 5 years, coupled with affiliate President (2012-2014) and the college Curriculum Committee chair (2016-2018), I am well versed in meeting management and facilitation. 2. Communication is natural and a necessity in my position as Dept. Chair along with my current role as an affiliate delegate. 3. HOD Culture team member for past 3 years has provided an insider's view on pertinent issues impacting our profession. Taking the lead on several projects involving policy, communication and advocacy and recording podcasts showcasing these issues. |

HOD Culture Team Member, Table Facilitator and POD Facilitator | Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics | 2016 - 2021 | Active participant in the HOD Culture Team with specific emphasis in Delegate Training, Leadership Development, Best Practices in Communication to members (surveyed current delegates), delegate role in Public Policy and Tracking Decision-Making and Outcomes. I also served as HOD Table Facilitator for the past 5 years, a role that helped me demonstrate diplomacy to understand viewpoints from the lens of a variety of different delegates representing different states and internationally as well as DPGs and MIGs. We quickly shifted efforts relating to COVID-related needs in the community, such as food insecurity and mental health services. I have also provided input on moving from the traditional "fee for service" model to "pay for value". Our efforts are moving to focus on Population Health. What do you see as opportunities for the future of the nutrition and dietetics profession?
The future for RDNs and NDTRs is bright! We need to focus on building our brand, strengthening our leadership skills and being present and at the table when decisions are made. Our profession needs to be agile, inclusive and ready to lean into challenges while positioning ourselves to meet the needs of our diverse populations.
