COVID-19 opened the door for increasing tele-nutrition services, expanding access to and the reach of RDNs, which could drive the need for a national licensure law as more RDNs practice across state lines. There is opportunity in better understanding the relationship of genes and nutrients to promote health/manage disease, and expand outcomes research in functional nutrition to support evidence-based practice. Further, there is opportunity in the requirement of master prepared RDNs to implement and participate in nutrition research as well as take on more leadership and management roles.
I will work to encourage civil discourse among nutrition and dietetics professionals with differing opinions on hot topic professional issues such as best dietary patterns, inclusion of all foods, and agricultural and sustainability issues.
