Leadership Experience
| Leadership Position | Organization | Years Involved in the Organization | My specific leadership contributions, achievements and outcomes: |
| Board Chairman - Volunteer | West Virginia Board of Licensed Dietitians | - | In 1996, the newly appointed board had little direction from the WV Legislature (result: instrumental in the Legislature mandating an annual workshop for all WV boards). With Board, organized the WVBOLD to include applications, fees, renewals, CEU requirments, online activities, newsletters, annual reports, extensive audits, etc. Formulated procedures and rules with Senate/House Government Organization Committee. Credited with being the driving force behind licensure, after many set-backs. In 2001, pulled licensure from the brink of sunsetting - currently a recognizable board. Since 1997, serving as a volunteer - acting as Director, Secretary (processing all new applications, renewals, lapsed and reinstated licenses , publishing newsletters, responding to all phone messages/e-mails, snail mail and all correspondence with licensees and Board Chairman). |
| Chairman | ADAPAC | - | Successfully increased contributions during 2003-2004 year. First joint ADAPAC and LLPC Committee face-to-face meeting. |
| President | Hadassah, Charleston, WV | - | Took an organization on the brink of dissolving: inspired current member, attracted new members, initiated new projects, increased fundraising to a record-breaking level and attracted national attention. Awarded the Hadassah National Award for Leadership. |
| Volunteer Council | League of American Orchestras | - | Council acts as a council and resource to volunteer groups of over 900 orchestras in the United States. Chaired: a workshop for 31 orchestras in Florida; arts advocacy; council selection and recruitment and awards for national conference. |
| President | West Virginia Symphony League | - | Was the first two-term president, During presidency the recruitment, retention, fundraising and member relationships improved. New projects were initiated. Instrumental in organizing an annual Symphony Sunday Outdoor event in 1982 - served as chairman of two events, most successful revenue to-date; served as food chairman since 1985. Recipient of the 2010 WV Symphony Orchestra Distinguished Service Award 2010 for outstanding contributions to the orchestra at all levels and recognition of her role as a community advocate and volunteer. Served on the WV Symphony Board of Directors since 1984, chairing several events. Active on the Executive Committee since 1997. |

Campaign Statement
One of WV's most accomplished leaders said "Helen Lodge is the only female I know who could run General Motors with her hands tied behind her back". While that is a fine compliment, I realize my limitations - most times.
