Leadership Experience

| Legislative Network Coordinator | Missouri Dietetic Association | - | I kept the state Board and membership informed of legislative activities and requests by the ADA Washington office. I promoted membership involvement in food/nutrition legislation related to state issues and federal issues. And, I planned and implemented a 'Day at the Capitol' in Jefferson City, MO during a Missouri Dietetic Association meeting and worked with our state membership and legislature to pass licensure for dietitians. At that time, well before many members were interested in legislation, I also was very aware of the need to promote the value of political activitiy by members and the need to inspire excitement for the legislative process. |

I Participated on the Educational Task Force and brought the views of the task force to the Delegates. Finally, I served on the Ethics Committee at a time when one of our members, an RD, was acused of unethical professional behavior. A hearing was held in New York City and the outcome was 'censure'. |
| President | Missouri Dietetic Association | - | I provided leadership to the Board of Directors and membership and continued to pursuit of licensure for dietitians. I worked to increase membership in ADA and promote excitement for our profession. I provided leadership to committees and helped to provided appropriate continuing educational programs for the membership. |
| Commission on Dietetic Registration | American Dietetic Association | - | I served on a review panel for Dietetic Technology programs both, distance and traditional and was involved in the discussions and decisons related to Advance Practice credentials and the Fellow recognition program. |
Personal and Campaign Statements
What do you see as opportunities for the future of the nutrition and dietetics profession?
Campaign Statement
My first political experience was marching, with my son in a stroler, for the Equal Rights Ammendment. Politics and legislation have interested me since the early 1970s. Therefore, while completing my didactic courses in dietetics, I worked to begin a local chapter of the Women's Political Caucus.
