Chair | Weight Management DPG | - | Working with my WM Exec Committee Colleagues to manage the 3rd largest DPG in the Academy, I led our team during the transition to using new Academy resources for both our administrative functions and our annual symposium management. This helped to lighten the load for our volunteers. Our DPG has a committed Executive committee and dedicated members who are creative with new ideas and supportive of all we do.
Treasurer | Weight Management DPG | - | Supported the Executive Committee and membership in managing the budget of the 3rd largest DPG in the Academy. Timely reimbursement for members, working collaboratively with the DCE group during our joint symposium and supporting the transition to a new treasurer as the academy practices were in transition.
Chairperson | Natick Champions for Education | - | Natick Champions for Education was a successful ballot question political committee established to support a tax override to build a new middle school in my community. The committee was formed when local officials agreed to again, put the tax override question to the voters in my community after a previous defeat. The role of the chairperson was to manage the working committees [advisory and functional ]. A 10 person precinct captain team, fundraising committee and supporters were all part of our team. The business and education community embraced our vision of why a new middle school was needed. The voter turnout was high and the ballot question was successful. This school group has gone on to become one of the stronger political organizations in the town.
Local Advisory Board Member | Playworks Massachusetts | - | Our local board provides strategic and fundraising support for the Executive Director of the Massachusetts program for Playworks, a national nonprofit organization that transforms schools by providing play and physical activity at recess and throughout the school day. In the metro Boston and Lawrence areas Playworks serves 33 schools. On a national level, Playworks has partnered with the Foundation of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics to study the combination of an RD coach and a Playworks coach in transforming the health of students in schools in the Oakland CA area. |

Campaign Statement
I have taken a less traditional route to leadership by volunteering within my local community on both school and town-wide issues. This led me to step forward to volunteer with the WMDPG. Both of these opportunities have given me amazing experiences working on and leading teams managing volunteers
