At Large HOD DTR | Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics | - | I feel I galvanized DTRs by circulating, presenting and discussing the Academy mega issues especially concerning the DTR Credential. My term from 2011 to 2013 was an incredible experience meeting DTRs and RDs in every level of the profession. I enjoyed helping DTRs realize their position in the Academy. The Fall 2012 mega issue with the Visioning Report was an important credential decision requiring DTRs and RDs to communicate before the meeting, during the meeting and after the meeting to make some tough decisions. Communicating with constituents and engaging them in the process was key and I am proud to have helped in the process. The DTRs are a small group but an important part of the professional nutrition team.
Advisory Board Member | Cuyahoga Community College | - | As a member of the Advisory Board at Cuyahoga Community College, I have had the opportunity to stay abreast of the overall Dietetic Technology Program including trends in the workplace, technology and student enrollment. As a Board member I have input with other board members to important issues in the Dietetic Technology program. Also, several times during the school year I address the students whether it is on job opportunities, Academy issues or involvement in the profession.
Technical Practices | Cleveland Dietetic Association | - | My main goal is to connect the local DTRs to increase our membership and to provide networking opportunities through electronic communication providing facts, events and interest articles. Also, informal annual gatherings for networking purposes. This year (2013-2014) I am helping with the membership committee and the nominating committee too. |
|
Speakers Bureau | Nestle USA - Adopt-a-School Program | - | I initiated, chaired and participated in an elementary school Nutrition Program on a variety of activities. The students were enlightened on a variety of topics ranging from nutrition careers to healthy eating. Besides nutrition presentations, activities also included role playing of a food factory production process, a field trip to a farm, and growing their own vegetables and preparing the food.
Civic League Trustee | Pepper Pike City | - | Volunteer position as secretary, treasurer and board member. Worked with state and local politicians to disseminate information to constituents. |
What do you see as opportunities for the future of the nutrition and dietetics profession?
