I have served on the Academy’s Board of Directors and House Leadership Team (HLT) for two years, leveraging strategic and analytical skills to foster respectful, generative dialogue. These discussions led to courageous decisions that strengthened the Academy’s operations and positioned it for future success. Key outcomes include launching a new strategic plan; realigning governance; establishing the Practice Excellence Committee; enhancing advocacy efforts; and embedding the principles of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access throughout Academy’s work. The work of the HLT includes implementing monthly small-group delegate meetings to foster inclusivity and deepen engagement; revising the Critical Issues process to better align with the strategic plan; and enhancing agility in responding to evolving healthcare landscapes, emerging technologies, and the diverse needs of members across practice areas. As Chair of the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), I collaborated with fellow commissioners and the Executive Director to re-establish CDR’s governance structure and improve staff morale during a transitional period marked by turbulence and uncertainty. |

Personal and Campaign Statements
The Academy stands at a pivotal moment. We are navigating an unprecedented era of rapid innovation in healthcare and technology, coupled with rising misinformation and shifting public policies. These uncertain and unsettling times demand bold, inclusive leadership. I see opportunities to strengthen our voice in advocacy, expand interdisciplinary partnerships, embrace emerging technologies, and engage with competitors to build a successful future for all—while safeguarding public health. We must also continue efforts to engage both members and non-members, reinforce our identity as food and nutrition experts, and demonstrate the value credentialed nutrition practitioners bring across diverse practice settings. To succeed, the Academy needs agile, evidence-based governance that reflects the views and diversity of our members. This will require courage and hard work. I firmly believe we are up to the challenge. I am committed to advancing our profession through strategic alignment, IDEA principles, and courageous decisions that shape a resilient, future-ready Academy.
Leadership is service. I have led with clarity, compassion, and courage, leveraging strategic and analytical skills to solve problems, drive innovation, and foster generative dialogue. I have no personal agenda; my only goal is to move our profession forward. If elected President-Elect, I will advocate for our members, amplify diverse voices, and help make the Academy a beacon of innovation, inclusion, and impact. Let’s build a legacy that belongs to all of us.
