Since 2017, I have been volunteering with the CDR as an Item writer, reviewer, and Exam Panel Member. I continue to use the Bias training and the AND Standards of Professional Performance for Registered Dietitians in my professional practice and CDR Exam Development Program. I have undergone extensive training and met the CDR requirements for the various positions I have held. I continue to stay abreast with the latest news and viewpoints in the AND and CDR to make informed decisions and use cultural competence and foster an atmosphere of inclusivity professionally. |

CDR Exam Panel Member | Commission on Dietetic Registration | 2021 - 2022 | I have volunteered my time and expertise to the CDR Item Writing Workshop, Item Review Workshops since 2017 and I am currently a part of the Exam Panel. I have undergone extensive training and written 30 items and reviewed multiple items , worked proactively and diligently as a team player and collaborated with other volunteers to ensure items have been written and reviewed using established standards and evidence-based resources. I have recently mentored two first-time item writers and provided them with guidance, input and constructive feedback on their work assignments . | |
New Jersey Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Awards Chair | New Jersey Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics | 2019 - 2022 | As the Awards Chair , I continue to attend all the NJAND Board meetings, update the awards templates, assess and prepare each nominee's application packet and work closely with the Awards Committee members to ensure all the nominations are assessed and the results are announced on a timely basis. Despite the pandemic, for the past 2 years I have successfully co-ordinated the process with the nominators, award winners, committee members, NJAND Executive Director and the AND and reviewed more than 30 plus nomination application packets. | |
New Jersey Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Nominating Committee Representative -Region 3 | New Jersey Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics | 2018 - 2020 | Attended NJAND Board meetings , co-ordinated with the Executive Director and contacted prospective candidates for the state ballot. I was able to connect with 3-5 candidates each year to describe the position requirements and motivate them to consider nominating themselves or their peers for the position . I was able to assist the Board in recruiting qualified members with the skill sets and qualifications needed for the position. |
What do you see as opportunities for the future of the nutrition and dietetics profession?
Data and digital are driving fundamental change across all industries and ours is no exception. The creative and judicious use of these technologies, like teleheath , data-based nutrition apps , wearables in clinical, outpatient, retail, community or private practice settings, can revolutionize our profession, help us expand our reach , provide hyperpersonalized nutrition care, lower cost and contribute to improved patient/client outcomes.
