1) For the past eight years, I’ve served as a board member for the Puerto Rico affiliate, currently as President. 2) I have leveraged the use of technology to provide our dietitians with educational sessions that are both accessible and that align with current competencies and needs. 3) With membership declining, I’ve encouraged student members to actively participate in board meetings to express their concerns and solutions to this issue. 4) As a LAHIDAN member, I will proudly represent all Hispanic and Latino members and be their voice to advocate for current barriers and challenges faced. |

Keeping up with an evolving environment can be challenging; forward-looking guarantees that we can be prepared for those changes before they actually happen. Telehealth is an example of how impactful and limitless our profession can become. Another example is retail. We are the expert influencers in the realm of health and wellness. Forming profitable business relationships with produce suppliers not only contributes to the overall health of a population, but it could also support sustainable farming practices and profits. These are just small examples of the amazing things we can accomplish.
How can we evoke change if we don’t change first? I strongly believe that diversity, inclusion, equity and access are the drivers that will guarantee a more positive, forward-looking, innovative, and brighter future for our beloved profession.
