1. As an Affiliate Past President & an MFNS DPG Past Chair, I worked collaboratively to improve strategic plans, mentored nutrition professionals, & re-implemented Legislative Day in Kentucky. 2. As MFNS Treasurer, I utilized effective skills learned as a foodservice director when I managed multi-million dollar budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility on behalf of our members. Also, as Vice President of God’s Pantry Food Bank BOD, I was a financial oversight committee member. 3. At GFS, I'm a member of our organization's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion leadership team. |

I support a holistic approach towards discussions, and promote an open-minded environment that encourages visionary communication, advocacy, and growth. | |

Affiliate Partnership Director | Dietitians in Business and Communications Dietetic Practice Group | 2021 - 2023 | In this role, I'm serving in a newly created leadership position on the Executive Committee. It focuses on supporting existing DBC members through state affiliates, while also striving to increase membership within the DPG. It is our goal to develop a State Affiliate Team that will eventually include 1-2 DBC members from each state, who will share relevant information with their affiliate & vice versa. Presentation opportunities & conducting focus groups are within the scope of this initiative. Diversity & inclusion will also be enhanced as we progress further with this essential work. | |
Treasurer | Management in Food and Nutrition Systems Dietetic Practice Group | 2013 - 2015 | As Treasurer, I was able to consistently utilize my financial skill-set gained as a director of multiple departments within a large hospital system. I advised the Executive Committee during the preparation of our annual budget, approved the collection of monies, contracts, as well as expenses. I also provided a financial update at each leadership meeting, and assisted with ensuring that we remained in good financial standing. This supported efforts to meet our goal for long-term success as a viable and essential dietetic practice group. | |
President | Kentucky Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics | 2009 - 2010 | As President, I had the privilege of leading a vibrant group of dietitians within our affiliate. We focused on our members and provided excellent educational opportunities. During the year, I developed and implemented a mentoring program for dietetics students. I also renewed our Kentucky Legislative Day that focuses on critical advocacy work. This key event continues to highlight the importance of nutrition & public policy, as well as assists with developing quality working relationships with our state legislators. |
My vision for the future of our profession is to elevate the recognition of Registered Dietitian Nutritionists as the experts in the areas of food & nutrition. As professionals, we have a significant responsibility to help build healthier communities. We also have a duty to support efforts that focus on social responsibility, emerging trends, and on inclusion, diversity, equity & access. At this crucial time, we must use this remarkable opportunity before us to utilize our expansive skill-sets to collaborate together and advocate for health, food security & wellness on a global scale.
