Leadership Experience
| Leadership Position | Organization | Years Involved in the Organization | My specific leadership contributions, achievements and outcomes: |
| HOD Director | AND | 2020 - 2023 | As a member of the House Leadership Team, I worked to develop and facilitate regular delegate meetings, orientations, critical issues, review of policies, and advance the House program of work overall. Examples of meeting recaps include the Impact of COVID-19 and Developing Collaborative-Ready Practitioners in which meeting content and recommendations were summarized. |
| HOD Delegate (CA Affiliate) | AND | 2014 - 2020 | I served as Delegate for the California Affiliate for 2-three-year terms. While a delegate, I sought to maintain relations with constituents by attending at least 2 district meetings in person each year and holding a Town Hall during the Annual Conference. As one of five delegates, we improved communication between the Executive Board and Delegate Council with activity updates for mutual understanding. At the Affiliate, I participated in the selection of a new Executive Director and policies to improve transparency. In the House, I volunteered on the Culture Committee and as Table Facilitator. |
| Public Policy Representative | CA Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics | 2012 - 2014 | Developed communications for outreach to local elected leaders, recruited legislative ambassadors, planned public policy event mixers with members, non-members, and elected representatives. |
Personal and Campaign Statements
Opportunities for our profession require securing a place at the table. Advocacy and strategic partnerships are essential to maintain a presence and foster any opportunities in response to emerging trends. Public awareness of who provides nutrition and dietetics services is integral to supporting and protecting consumers, as well as promoting the profession to young people. These opportunities are directly linked to two strategic priorities: Defined Identity and Professional Empowerment. I promote diversity and seek to improve the viability of our profession for those who desire it and retain professionals who enter it. More information can be gained with data. For example, the Workforce Capacity and Demand Project and how machine learning and predictive modeling can assess factors influencing trends. Our past informs our present. To be agile, we must measure risks and not be afraid to make difficult decisions or have difficult conversations.
Inspiring. Serving. Calling. I want to inspire delegates to fully engage in their role. I will serve with integrity and build confidence in the House. I will call on you to inform delegates about critical issue concerns and share the value of membership.
