1. Experience and familiarity with the role of a board of directors: As Chief Medical Officer I have had the privilege of working on Board Activities internally providing clear strategic direction that was aligned with the vision and mission of the organization. Always striving to develop scientific projects that translated into relevant messages and impact for nutrition advocacy 2. Think strategically regarding the entire membership: My experience as a Registered Dietitian and a neonatologist leading a multidisciplinary team through critical and collaborative decision making to collectively improve the lives of our patients gives me a lens to truly trying to incorporate key intents to empower the profession to positive and meaningful changes 3. Identify opportunities, address difficult issues and generate solutions: As a clinician I have had the capability to bring to light the majority view on pressing issues, such as data that resonates with business, the public health segment as well as our current health care system. Personal and Campaign Statements
My pride as a Dietitian leads me to accept the nomination for board of directors. I believe we have the opportunity to truly elevate the Registered Dietitian to be the advocate for health change in the United States. My ambition is that the Academy is viewed as the source of truth for accurate and trusted nutrition information in an era where skepticism is high. The strategy I would advocate for is narratives that reach more consumers and that include education on the strength of an RDN in decision making for health care. I would enable our membership to have spotlights for best practice and I would work with external partners with expertise in AI and RWE to escalate and amplify RD impact. Finally, during a time of uncertainty , we can lean in on the confidence and value a RD can bring for health care and public health
