Leadership Position | Organization | Years Involved in the Organization | My specific leadership contributions, achievements and outcomes: | Leadership Skills used in this position: |
Finance and Audit Committee At Large Member | Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics | 2022 - 2024 | Review, analyze and provide feedback during meetings where Academy finances and financial practices are discussed. Together with the full FAC committee, we review policies, assess the Academy budget and engage with Academy auditors to ensure best practices are followed.
Chair Committee for Lifelong Learning | Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics | 2014 - 2019 | Planning FNCE from 2015-2019 involved reviewing and scoring thousands of proposals. Managed logistics post acceptance, working with speakers on content. Moderated many sessions. Post-meeting analysis of evaluations led to continuous improvement for the next FNCE meeting. In my Chair year, our team accepted the challenge of offering the first debate format. I facilitated the efforts for two hot topic debates. Both sessions were well attended and received high reviews. Cutting edge, innovative and dynamic improvements in FNCE occurred during my 5 years on the committee.
Chair | Weight Management DPG | 2010 - 2013 | In my Chair year, with peak member growth, I guided the DPG through changes to multiple support positions: executive director, website manager and symposium meeting planner. Supported foundation funding of the Kids Eat Right Project and research funds for the EAL Adult Weight Management Questions. Worked with our EC and treasurer to manage finances during a time of continued national economic recession requiring budget cuts. The DPG also experienced and adjusted to unplanned expenses and branding challenges with the organization's name change to become the Academy.
Treasurer | Weight Management DPG | 2009 - 2010 | A growing membership base and on-site symposium income and expenses yielded managing a DPG budget of $165,000. In my second year as treasurer, WM and DCE provided a unique, joint, on-site symposium. Per our agreement, all revenues and expenses were split evenly. This required review of both sets of DPG financial reports to ensure re-allocation of funds where necessary. My prior experience with symposium management allowed me to volunteer to be the lead treasurer for this event. Meeting revenues and expenses were evenly allocated due to my diligence and attention to detail. |
