Nominating Committee National Leader |
|
My roles in different MIGs, national and local organizations helped me grow a large professional network and demonstrate my commitment to the profession. As a spokesperson and educator, effective communication, team work, analysis and innovation are key to my work. Personal and professional experiences gave me skills to lead collaborations to meet common goals. As a Latina, I pledge the importance of DEI. To increase access, I work with students from different backgrounds and encourage them and RDNs to be active within the Academy as a first step to accomplish diversity, equity and inclusion. |

Diversity, equity & inclusion are a great opportunity to expand the role and stress the importance of dietitians in healthcare, as there is no other healthcare profession that is as involved with culture as is nutrition. On the other hand, food security is one of the main social determinants of health, and dietary intake determines the difference between health and disease. Dietitians are at the center of this ecosystem, and have the necessary knowledge and expertise that grants the power to improve health outcomes thru education, acculturation, sustainable agriculture, research, and policy.
We are passionate professionals. Let's fuel progress with passion. I'm ready to work for you with an open mind, embracing innovation and promoting diversity, being courageous and nurturing the greater good for a brighter professional tomorrow.
