-CDR Commissioner: I face future-looking issues, including the upcoming Masters-degree requirement for the RDN. Listening to the dissenting voices as much as those who agree means more effective decisions. -Chair, Idaho Dietetics Licensure Board: I worked on the update of Idaho’s practice act. I collaborated with the state affiliate, the Board of Medicine, and members of congress. We addressed opposition and utilized positive relationships with members of the Idaho congress to achieve success |

What do you see as opportunities for the future of the nutrition and dietetics profession?
We have both opportunities and challenges to improve collaboration with other professionals and organizations. I think we can expand the role of the RDN and the NDTR in the healthcare arena by showing the value of the RDN while still being invested in team success. An important part of this is preparing students to enter the profession armed not only with food and clinical skills, but business, negotiation, and collaborative skills as well. We must focus on all members, including our NDTRs!
Campaign Statement
As nutrition professionals, we need to be more effective at collaborating, including those with whom we disagree. We need to actively seek partnerships & create both internal and external champions to affect the global change we seek as a profession.
