CDR Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) |
|
1) Currently a CDP CAP member. Previously worked on CDR CSR panel and the appeals committee. 2) The most recent work related to this that I have participated in has been with the CAP group. The appeals committee also has given me experience that is somewhat related to this. 3) My current and prior roles with CDR have helped my understanding of the credentialing and accreditation requirements. In addition, I spent ~ 5 years as a manager/associate chief of clinical services at the VA in SLC. I worked closely during that time with credentialing for the RDs. 4) I think a key to being able to navigate differences between org vs professional issues is being adaptable and understanding both sides. I believe my current and former roles have given me experience in this area. 5) Have completed various training in this area and sought additional training for dietitians in Salt Lake City on this topic. |

Competency Assurance Panel | CDR | 2022 - | Participated in the development of the new CDR CPEU prior approval program policy manual. | Leadership: I have volunteered on different assignments within this group, most recently that I can recall was reviewing some of the definition of terms. Personal: I think my experience as a clinical and administrative dietitian have been useful on this panel. Interpersonal: this skill is routinely used in any group setting, regardless of personal opinion, I feel I try to understand and listen to opposing views. I am not afraid to change my opinion if other views seem to offer a better solution. |
CSR workgroup member | CDR | 2016 - 2023 | Participated in and contributed to exam content used for the CSR exam. | In this group, there are often discussions on exam questions where there are varying opinions. I feel I am able to listen to opposing views and share my perspective in a way that supports the overall purpose of developing well written, evidence based exam questions. |
Essential Practice Committee Taskforce | CDR | 2024 - | Participation in this taskforce has been focused on ensuring the essential practice competencies are pertinent and current to RDs and RDNs varying roles. | |
Specialty Certification Appeals workgroup member | CDR | 2021 - 2023 | Participated in decision making related to practitioner appeals to CDR. | This workgroup is tasked with the difficult decision of reviewing appeals by specialty certified CDR practitioners. During my involvement, I learned quite a bit about past appeals and the impact of approving/denying current appeals. I was able to provide my perspective and opinion while being open to changing my vote based on the valuable input of other members on the panel. |
Personal and Campaign Statements
What do you see as opportunities for the future of the nutrition and dietetics profession?
There are many opportunities for our profession. First and foremost, our profession needs to continue to advocate for our expertise and serve as the nutrition experts in any setting that provides the opportunity. One of the newest emerging trends is AI. I feel that the profession can work to integrate this into practice to assist clinicians while also understanding how the technology will be/is being used by clients.
Campaign Statement
There are many great candidates for this position and whoever is elected will work to serve the CDR vision and mission. I have volunteered with CDR for several years and find this work to be truly rewarding and would love to continue in a new role!
