 The leadership roles I’ve held across different Academy organizational units provides me with a unique lens to view our organization's challenges and opportunities. My goal has always been to elevate the profession in research, policy, and practice. My accomplishments in these roles demonstrate my ability to think strategically, address complex issues, and promote a culture of inclusivity. The key for me is listening in order to understand values, goals, enablers, and barriers, brought to the table. With that we can begin to generate solutions with the interests of Academy members in mind.

Chair Elect, Chair, Past Chair of the Legislative and Public Policy Committee Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics 2022 - 2024 I demonstrated strategic leadership as Chair of the Legislative and Public Policy Committee by (1) overseeing development of the Academy’s 2024-2026 Public Policy Priorities; (2) draft and review policy stances and positions that would guide the Academy's policy and advocacy efforts ; (3) leading and/or supporting hosting virtual advocacy events for members.
Chair-Elect, Chair, Past-Chair Cultures of Gender and Age Member Interest Group Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics 2020 - 2024 As Chair of the Cultures of Gender and Age (COGA) Member Interest Group during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic I demonstrated adaptive leadership by: (1) development of the groups initial strategic plan, (2) implementing innovative virtual engagement events and (3) developing mentorship initiatives that supported professionals across the spectrums of gender and age.

What do you see as opportunities for the future of the nutrition and dietetics profession?

Emerging trends in personalized nutrition, the gut microbiome, digital health and artificial intelligence, and the social determinants of health present opportunities to elevate our role as evidence-based experts. As trusted voices on food and health, we are uniquely equipped to improve outcomes, reduce disparities, and empower communities to thrive through the power of nutrition. My vision is to position registered dietitian nutritionists as leaders within nutrition research policy and practice.
