NDEP | South Central Regional Director | June 2022 to present | With continuing declining enrollment in our programs dedicated to the education and training needed for our profession, I lobbied for and ensured that the NDEP Student Intern Application Survey and DPD Program Director Survey created and conducted on behalf of NDEP Council in 2018, 2019, and 2021 was conducted and provided to all students eligible to apply for dietetic internship/supervised practice programs and all DPD program directors in 2023. We need this data in order to collect and share critical information associated with factors affecting important decisions being made by the students and the observations/perspectives of DPD program directors. (These surveys were not conducted in 2020 due to difficulties imposed by the COVID pandemic nor in 2022 due to other survey of educators and preceptors being conducted at the time). I worked with all NDEP Regional Directors to plan, organize, and present NDEP’s spring meetings for 2023 and 2024, and participated as a member of the NDEP Nominating Committee to identify candidates for our 2023 and 2024 ballots for NDEP Council members. I consistently shared and promoted opportunities for webinars, workshops, discussions, and events developed and presented by our members and others via other entities and forums to improve diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice in our profession as well as to help inform our practice and that of our future colleagues. Making these opportunities and resources available throughout all aspects of education and training is absolutely necessary to improve our ability to meet the needs of the public we serve in every practice setting. |

Advocated for and led the creation of the NDEP Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee, ensuring that its chairperson is a voting member of the NDEP Leadership Council and includes members representing educators, program directors, and preceptors. Updated and ensured distribution of the 2021 NDEP Student Internship Application Survey and the NDEP 2021 DPD Program Director Survey to provide important data and information for DPD and dietetic internship/supervised practice program directors, and all NDEP members, along with widespread distribution to non-members and Academy, ACEND, and CDR leadership.
