Additionally, I have nearly 15 years in academia, teaching courses specific to dietetics, and 10 years as a dietetic internship director, giving me a foundation knowledge of challenges these groups face.

Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation | Treasurer | 2022-2023, 2014-2015 | As Treasurer, I was responsible for the financial operation of the Texas Academy Foundation and the supervision of endowed and annual scholarships. As a member of the Texas Academy Foundation Board, I participated in fundraising efforts of the organization, maintained bank statements and ledger, and ensure payment of invoices. Over $18,000 in scholarships are awarded each year to dietetic students and RDNs using dividends from endowed scholarships, sponsored annual scholarships, and proceeds from fundraising. The treasurer is also responsible for supervising the preparation of tax reports for IRS compliance. |
Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics | Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Delegate, Texas Affiliate | 2019-2022 | As Delegate for the Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, I represent the Texas Academy members during discussion and issues related to government, regulation, professional development of dietetics professionals. I also served on the Professional Issues Task Force while a delegate. This task force was charged with recommendations for the selection, discussion and resolution process for the HOD. In my term, we also started a "Lunch with Your Delegate" town hall meetings with affiliate members to get direct input from our constituents. |
Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics | President | 2017-2018 | As President, I was responsible for overseeing Texas Academy volunteers and committees to ensure activities comply with policies and procedures and provide benefit to the Texas Academy members and the dietetics profession in Texas. My term as president included the second year of the transition from districts to regions for our affiliate. My goal as President was to continue the work of the preceding President in communicating the benefits of this transition. I also focused on encouraging efforts to improve participation in Texas Academy events and informing constituents about the benefits for Academy and Texas Academy membership. President of the Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics includes serving as President-Elect and Past-President. |
