|
1. My graduate school capstone was on credential for registered dietitians, current issues and obstacles for growing the field and how to increase diversity. 2.I have worked in community health for 11 years, with 7 of those years being in management roles to set a standard of how nutrition information can be disseminated, finding culturally relevant food for pantry distribution, as well as mentoring staff on relevant food safety practices. 3.I have traveled a non traditional route in obtaining my certification. After having the CD/N for 6 years, I went back to school for the Dietetic Internship. I am aware of the obstacles, as well as the benefits of obtaining appropriate credentials as a Registered Dietitian. 4. I am passionate about food policy, often going to seminars held by the CUNY Urban Food Policy Institute, and am cognizant of the difference between issues nutrition faces on a population level, as well as the improvements each dietitian can make. |
