Nominating Committee National Leader |
|
Having been chair of SCAN (SHPN), an Academy Spokesperson, Chair of the Professional Development Committee, a Medallion Award honoree and an Academic Department Chair, has allowed me the opportunity to have a national network of RDN's and organizations. I have worked with strategic plans both academically and professionally and have hired and moved a diverse team of faculty and RDN's to leadership positions. My teaching philosophy reflects my leadership philosophy in that I treat all students equally with respect and inclusion and allow them the opportunity to succeed. |

What do you see as opportunities for the future of the nutrition and dietetics profession?
I have been an RDN for over 35 years and have seen lots of changes and opportunities. Clearly, the profession of dietetics is changing. We are moving to an entry level Masters to become an RDN and more and more dietitians are looking for jobs where they can flourish. Whether that means private practice, industry, health coaching, or social media, we need to become more diverse, competent and support both traditional and non-traditional roles.
Campaign Statement
As a college nutrition professor, I have worked/mentored many students who have desired to become RDN's. Now, more than ever, we need to support our future dietitians with opportunities so that they can lead the next generation of RDN's.
