House of Delegates (HOD) Director |
|
I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to hone my meeting management skills through leadership roles as president of my district and state associations, as chair of the Diabetes Care and Education DPG and in multiple committee chair roles. These leadership roles gave me valuable experience to strengthen my speaking and writing skills. In 2013, I proposed the topic of research as a mega issue and it subsequently became the mega issue for the spring 2014 HOD meeting. |
Nominating Committee National Leader |
|
Leadership roles at the national level including the DCE DPG chair; 6 years as a delegate plus duties with the EAL and the DPBRN have given me a very wide network of contacts. I have served on the nominating committees of my state association and the DCE DPG where diversity and the strategic direction of the organizations were foremost in the creation of the ballots. Teamwork and organizational skills made participation on those committees very positive and fulfilling experiences. |

What do you see as opportunities for the future of the nutrition and dietetics profession?
At my first FNCE in the early 70's I was fascinated by the work military dietitians did for the space program. I envision our profession being essential in the future of space travel and colonization. As an organization, we need to support research in all areas of evidence based dietetic practice. In a global world the need for collaboration with other countries is more important than ever for feeding the world's population and for sharing the science that supports nutrition and dietetics.
Campaign Statement
Paying back and paying forward to the pioneer dietitians who established our profession and the future members who will take us to new heights.
